GCSE Geography Controlled Assessment

Leeson House offers a range of courses for the Controlled Assessments in Geography. We can provide tuition and fieldwork programmes that cover a variety of the themes and task questions for Edexcel A, AQA A and B and OCR specifications. Please contact us to discuss themes and task questions for other specifications.

All the fieldwork locations are ideal for GCSE groups - all are suitable for larger groups of students, have good facilities such as parking and toilets and students will find lots of good secondary data available about each on the internet.

All our GCSE controlled assessment units contain a carefully selected and appropriate amount of field data collection for the task questions but also provide scope for the more able pupils to take their analysis further. There is also scope for the students to design their own fieldwork tasks under our guidance, especially for the Environmental and Urban Areas themes.

We can deliver these programmes as both day visits and also as part of a residential course. Leeson House can accommodate up to 63 pupils at a time but for larger groups then we work in partnership with Harrow House in Swanage. Harrow House can provide excellent accommodation, classrooms and ICT suites for much larger groups at most times of the year and Leeson House staff will still be available to teach the courses.

We can provide all the field study equipment required for the largest of groups and we have two permanent and experienced geography tutors to lead the fieldwork.

Dorset County Council maintains a superb GIS which pupils can access easily and provides detailed census data, aerial photos etc. It will also allow detailed maps to be saved as pdf files and also printed - GIS
